Candy AI video, three ways: Build Your Video, image-to-video and Live Action

Candy AI makes video in three ways: Build Your Video assembles a clip from presets, image-to-video animates a picture you generated, and Live Action lets you steer interactive scenes with select characters. None of them is a free-form text-to-video prompt, and video isn’t part of the free account: generating it is a Premium feature (from $3.99 a month, as of September 2026), and several video actions use tokens.

Build Your Video: the Candy AI video generator, with presets

Build Your Video (Candy help center, “What is ‘Build Your Video’?”, Aug 26, 2026) works like an order form. You pick four presets, and Candy generates the clip from them:

  1. Step 1: Character

    Who the video is about.

  2. Step 2: Action

What happens, chosen from a preset list rather than typed.

  3. Step 3: Location

    Where the scene takes place.

  4. Step 4: Partner

Who else is in the scene.

  5. Step 5: Generate, then open My Generations

Finished clips are saved there, in your Candy account.

Candy warns that the result may differ from your choices, so treat the presets as direction rather than a script. It’s also the newest of the three tools: an older help article said Candy couldn’t make videos from scratch, only from images, and Build Your Video came later.

Image-to-video: animate a picture you made

Image-to-video starts from a still. Generate a picture first, in Generate Image or inside a chat, then convert it into a short animated clip (Candy help center, “Can I generate AI Videos?”, Mar 7, 2026). It’s paid with tokens. A clip can only be as good as the image it starts from, so the prompt tips for Candy’s image generator matter here too.

Live Action: interactive scenes with select characters

Live Action is Candy’s interactive video mode (Candy help center, “What is Live Action?”, Mar 7, 2026). It’s for Premium members only and available with select characters, marked with a joystick icon on their profile. Inside a scene you choose what happens next from a set of actions: some are free, others cost tokens. Candy lists the “full Live Action experience” among its Premium benefits, and Premium Plus bundles it with New Experiences and live audio.

Our “Try Live Action” button opens the Live Action page of Bree Whitlock, who is also the credited lead of the Shorts series My Best Friend's Bride: watch its free episodes first if you’d like to meet her there.

Premium includes 100 tokens a month, worth about $0.04 each on the 12-month plan by our method (plan price divided by 100 tokens). Candy doesn’t publish video prices on its plans page, so the reliable check is your balance before and after a clip. For scale, a locked Candy AI Shorts episode costs 12 tokens. Our price breakdown has the plan-by-plan math.

Shorts are the ready-made part: watch the Candy AI Shorts series for story, and generate video when you want a scene that’s yours. Both live in the same account and draw on the same tokens.

Apps named “Candy” that aren’t this

Search for a “Candy” video app and you’ll hit things that have nothing to do with Candy AI: candy-themed AI video editors, short-drama apps with “Candy” in the name, and lookalike sites borrowing the brand. The official service runs in the browser at candy.ai, with the series also at candyshorts.com.

Candy’s help center says there’s no native iOS or Android app, only a web app you can add to your home screen, so an app-store download called “Candy AI video” isn’t Candy’s. Here’s how to install the official web app instead.

FAQ

Does Candy AI generate videos?

Yes, in three ways: Build Your Video makes a clip from presets (character, action, location and partner), image-to-video animates an image you generated, and Live Action offers interactive scenes with select characters. There's no free-form text-to-video prompt. Generating videos is a Premium benefit, and several video features use tokens.

What is Candy AI Live Action?

Live Action is interactive video with select characters: you pick what happens next from a set of actions, some free and some paid with tokens. It's Premium-only, and characters that offer it carry a joystick icon, according to Candy's help center (Mar 7, 2026). Candy lists the full Live Action experience among its Premium benefits.

Is Live Action available on desktop?

Candy's help article on Live Action (Mar 7, 2026) describes it as a mobile-only feature. We haven't been able to confirm whether desktop support has been added since, so the safe choice is your phone's browser. Candy has no App Store or Google Play app; you can add the web app to your home screen instead.

How many tokens does a video cost?

Candy doesn't publish per-video token prices on its plans page, and we haven't verified current figures. In Live Action, some actions are free and others cost tokens. The reliable check is your balance before and after a clip. Premium includes 100 tokens a month, worth about $0.04 each on the 12-month plan by our plan-price method.

What's the difference between Candy Shorts and generated videos?

Candy Shorts are scripted series made by Candy: fixed stories told in short vertical episodes, with trailers and subtitles, and the first episodes of most series free. Generated videos are made for you on request, from presets or your own images, and are saved in your account. Both live in the same account and use the same tokens.

Can I download my generated videos?

Build Your Video saves finished clips under My Generations in your account. Whether you can download a file to your device depends on the current app, and Candy's help center has a separate article on saving videos if the option doesn't show up. Either way, Candy says generated content is for personal use only.
